Academics & Student Success

We believe strong musicians make strong students.

At the Atlanta Steel Orchestra (ASO), we’re not just teaching music — we’re helping students build discipline, confidence, and lifelong learning habits. We know that when youth feel supported artistically and academically, they thrive in every part of life.

Why Academics Matter at ASO

  •  Music builds skills like focus, memory, and time management — all key for academic success.
     
  • We encourage our students to apply the same dedication and collaboration they use in rehearsals to their schoolwork.
     
  • ASO provides a positive space where students can grow as learners, leaders, and individuals.

How We Support Academic Growth

  •  Attendance checks and progress updates help ensure school comes first
     
  • Study breaks, homework help, and tutoring referrals are available by request
     
  • We celebrate report card improvements, achievements, and graduation milestones
     
  • Students who stay committed to both music and academics may be eligible for internships, leadership roles, and college prep support. Every child graduating and attending college will be provided with a scholarship.
